· WEC Announces Remaining Fights For August 18 Event

World Extreme Cagefighting has confirmed nine remaining bouts for its Aug. 18 card at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nev. WEC General Manager Reed Harris announced today the following bouts: Shane Roller vs. Anthony Pettis, Chad Mendes vs. Cub Swanson, Brad Pickett vs. Scott Jorgensen, Bart Palaszewski vs. Zack Mickleweight, Anthony Njokuani vs. Maciej Jewtuszko, Mackens Semerzier vs. Javier Vazquez, Dave Jansen vs. Ricardo Lamas, Fredson Paixao vs. Bryan Caraway, and Danny Castillo vs. Dustin Poirier.

Two-time NCAA wrestling champion Cole Konrad and highly-touted European submission ace Rogent Lloret will face off in an opening-round contest in Bellator’s season three heavyweight tournament at the historic Chicago Theatre on Aug. 19.  Konrad and Lloret join a stacked Bellator 25 card that also features the U.S. debut of undefeated heavyweight sensation Damian “The Polish Pitbull” Grabowski versus massive Georgia-based ground-and-pound spec- ialist Scott Barrett, and an women's tournament opening-round fight between Zoila “The Warrior Princess” Frausto and the world's number six-ranked flyweight, Jessica Pene.

In the co-main event, undefeated Sarah Kaufman defended her women’s welterweight world championship with a thrilling third round knockout of challenger Roxanne Modafferi.

 


· UFC Serves Subpoenas On Two Streaming Websites

Zuffa, LLC, the parent company of the UFC, announced today that it has served subpoenas on two streaming video websites, commanding them to reveal the identities of users who have uploaded video of live pay-per-view UFC events. The websites, Justin.tv and Ustream.tv, enable anyone with an Internet connection to broadcast live streaming video to an unlimited audience.  Although originally developed to bring user-generated content to a large live audience, these sites have been exploited by some users to broadcast illegally uploaded content, including UFC events. 

 


· UFC 121 Adds Three High Profile Bouts

UFC 121 is already boasting a high-profile title fight between heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez. The addition of three more fights featuring big names have been added to the card, making the event one of the biggest cards of the year. The teacher meets the student, as Tito Ortiz is expected to face Matt Hamill. In addition, Todd Duffee is reportedly facing off with Jon Madsen, and Gabriel Gonzaga is stepping in against Brendan Schaub. UFC 121 will be held October 23 from the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

 


· Phil Davis To Replace Stanislav Nedkov At UFC 117

Phil "Mr. Wonderful" Davis has been chosen to replace Stanislav Nedkov who had to back out of his bout with Rodney Wallace at "UFC 117: Silva vs. Sonnen." Davis broke the news from his personal Twitter account exclaiming “For all those who haven't heard I'll be fighting Aug 7th in Oakland against Rodney Wallace!" UFC 117 is headlined by a middleweight title bout between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen. The event will be held in Oakland, Calif. on August 7.

The fighters who will compete in the "Strikeforce: Challengers" mixed martial arts event on Friday, July 23 weighed in on Thursday at the Ice Box at Comcast Arena at Everett in Everett, Wash. Undefeated heavyweight prospect Shane Del Rosario faces Lolohea Mahe in the main event on Showtime (11 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast). Unbeaten Strikeforce women's world welterweight champion and former ballet dancer Sarah Kaufman will put her perfect record as well as her crown on the line against international star Roxanne Modafferi in the co-main event.

 


· ‘Ultimate Women Challenge’ Set To Air This Fall

The fall will mark a giant step in women’s mixed martial arts. This coming Sept- ember, 16 women will step out of their comfort zone and into the national spotlight as the first fighters on the reality television show “Ultimate Women Challenge.” The new NBC series will bring viewers into the lives of the 16 MMA contestants to experience an intimate knowledge of them as both individuals and fighters. Hosting the show will be world renowned fighter, broadcaster, and self defense instructor Bas “El Guapo” Rutten and actress/model Joanna Krupa.
