· Optimus Fighting Championship To Hold 16 Man Open Weight Tournament

Optimus Fighting Championship, a new North East England based MMA Organization, is hosting "Optimus Fighting Championship: The New Dawn" at the Newcastle Metro Radio Arena in April 2010. Dedicated to bringing professional fighters together to take part in skilful and explosive bouts within the cage, Optimus FC is holding a 16 Man Open Weight Tournament of which the winner wins £10,000 and The Championship Belt.
Optimus FC is privileged to host an exciting opening bout which see’s Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioner, trainer and North East & UK MMA legend Dave ‘Speedy’ Elliot taking on the strong and ambitious Steve Douglas fighting out of the another Legend of the MMA worlds Ian ‘The Machine’ Freemans North East based ‘Team Machine’.
We are pleased to announce local fighter Scott Rogan will return to his native soil having fought in other parts of the country on the big stage for so long. The man to take on the challenge - Christopher Woolcott who’s aim it is to beat the very best.
Explosive Rob ‘Robocop’ Mills fighting out of the highly respected Sor Thanikul & Knuckledraggers camp meets well renowned DFM Reivers MMA tough Ryan ‘The Bull’ Copland.
Our first Headline Heavyweight bout sees Heavy hitter, Powerhouse and Ian ‘The Machine’ Freeman protégé Darren Towler from ‘Team Machine’ taking on The All American Wrestler, MMA Legend and UFC Hall of Famer which is Dan ‘The Beast’ Severn with an unbelievable record of 88-15-7. This may well be the last UK appearance for this Pioneering MMA Veteran before drawing the curtain on a glorious and celebrated career which has spanned decades as he is set to retire from fighting in Professional Mixed Martial Events.
