The results are in for World Extreme Cagefighting’s “WEC 41: Brown vs. Faber II”.  Though the second fight between Featherweight Champion Mike Brown (22-4) and Uriah “The California Kid” Faber (22-3) lasted much longer than their first meeting, the outcome was once again favorable to Brown.  Brown outlasted a tough and courageous Faber, winning by unanimous decision at the end of five rounds, 49-46, 49-46 and 48-47.  Much to his credit, Faber gutted out the twenty-five minute contest after breaking his right hand early in the first round.

In an evening filled with entertaining and impressive performances, four fighters, Mike Brown, Urijah Faber, Jose Aldo, and Seth Dikun all took home $10,000 "fight night" bonuses.  “Fight of the Night” was awarded to both Brown and Faber for their fever-pitched five round war, whose intensity spanned the entire length of the bout, from the opening to the closing bell.  Antonio Banuelos and Scott Jorgensen’s back-and-forth slugfest, a split-decision, was the obvious runner up for the award.

Jose “Junior” Aldo (15-1) received the “Knockout of the Night” for his flying knee KO of Cub Swanson (13-3) just eight seconds into their featherweight contest.  It has been rumored that the winner of this bout would be next in line for a title shot.

Seth "2 Quik" Dikun (7-3) garnered the “Submission of the Night” bonus, securing a flying triangle choke on Rolando Perez (
4-3-1) at 2:30 of the first round.

In disappointing news, Jens “Little Evil” Pulver (
22-12-1) was submitted in just thirty-three seconds by rising star Josh "The Fluke" Grispi  (13-1).  An accomplished and storied veteran, Pulver’s run looks to be nearing his end.  “I started right here, and I'm not going to be that guy who keeps saying he's retiring. But I think I just ended where I started. I love all you guys,” Pulver stated. For his effort Pulver pulled in an event high $31,253 I reported salary.
