According to a report by Tatame, Ronnys Torres (14-1) has been added to the yet-to-be officially announced UFC Ultimate Fight Night 19 fight card.  The bout, for which an opponent has yet to be named, will mark the lightweight Brazilian Fighter’s debut with the organization.  Torres had originally been slated to face Melvin "The Young Assassin" Guillard (12-7-2 1NC) at UFN 18 in April before a knee injury and subsequent surgery sidelined him for the first half of  this year.

The early prognosis for Torres had the likelihood of him being out of action for a five to six month time frame.  Fortunately for the young fighter, his recovery exceeded expectations.  He told Tatame, “The recovery was great. The doctors said that I would return to the trainings in five, six months, but I was already getting crazy. I did the right recovery with the physiotherapists, it was everything very fast. So, we called the UFC and marked the fight.”

Torres signed with the UFC at the latter end of 2008.  Prior to the signing, he justifiably gained the attention of the UFC brass after winning an impressive eight fights in just eleven months.  Most of Torres’ fights have taken place within a variety of Brazilian MMA promotions.

Though UFN 19 has not been officially announced, Torres indicated that his fight would take place on September 16, a date that corresponds to other reports for the event.  Talking to the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission, MMAjunkie indicated the tentative location for the fights as being Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
