· Antwain Britt vs. Rafael Cavalcante For May Strikeforce Card
Light heavyweight standouts Antwain "The Juggernaut" Britt and Rafael "Feijão" Cavalcante will face off on the Strikeforce card scheduled for May 15. The fight was confirmed by Britt's head trainer Buck Grant over Twitter. Both fighters have won their previous fights in the organization, and a victory at this event would position the winner for a run at the 205 pound belt.
Britt (11-3) made his debut with the organization in December at "Strikeforce: Evolution" where he stopped Scott Lighty, who was unable to answer the bell after the first round. The knockout artist has won nine of his 11 victories via KO/TKO and has only gone the distance three times in his 14 fight career. The Virginia Beach based fighter holds notable victories over Richard Hale, Carmelo Marrero and Antonio Mendes.
Cavalcante (8-2) hopes to continue the momentum started by his TKO victor over Aaron Rosa at the November 20 ShoMMA Challengers card. "Feijão" is a veteran of the IFL and went undefeated in EliteXC until the organization folded, at which point he signed with Strikeforce. The Muay Thai standout currently trains with UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva and former Pride and UFC Heavyweight Champion Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira at the Black House gym in Brazil.
Strikeforce's May 15 card takes place in St. Louis, Missouri, at the Scottrade Center and airs live on Showtime. Another match rumored for the card a is a bout between Frank Shamrock and Pat Militech; the fighters have allegedly already verbally agreed upon the fight but no confirmation is available at this time. Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski is expected to face Antonio Silva. Finally, Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem is set to defend his belt against Brett Rogers, marking the return of the champion who has not fought with the organization or defended his belt since November 2007.
