· Tyson Griffin And Tim Credeur Injured, Out Of Respective Bouts
Injuries are becoming a common theme in mixed martial arts as we round out the year. Two more injuries have been reported as both Tyson Griffin and "Crazy" Tim Credeur have been forced to cancel bouts set for January. Griffin was in line to square off against Jim Miller at UFC 108 on January 2, while Credeur was ready to take on Mike Massenzio at "Ultimate Fight Night 20" on January 11. No opponent has been named to replace Griffin as of yet, but Gerald "Hurricane" Harris is set to replace Credeur.
MMAJunkie first reported the injury to Griffin. It is not believed that the injury is serious or will require a long absence from competition. At this point, the exact cause of the injury is unknown.
Griffin (14-2) last competed at UFC 103 in September becoming the first man to ever knockout Hermes Franca. He has five "Fight of the Night" awards and also holds a "Submission of the Night" award. The always exciting Griffin is near the top list of title contenders at lightweight in the UFC.
No stranger to winning "Fight of the Night" honors, Credeur's last outing against Nate Quarry was nothing short of classic. Bowing out of the fight with Massenzio ruins any hope Credeur had of immediately following it up with another top notch performance. In his career, Credeur holds a professional mixed martial arts record of (12-3).
