· UFC 105 Taking Shape; Several U.K. Stars Scheduled
Last week UFC officials announced the main event for "UFC 105" in Manchester, England; headlining will be Brandon Vera facing off against Randy ‘The Natural’ Couture. Already on the card was Michael ‘The Count’ Bisping, looking to bounce back from "UFC 100" knockout loss, against Denis Kang. And as we found out yesterday, Dan ‘The Outlaw’ Hardy will now take on Mike Swick in a bout potential title implications. With the star power in those three match ups, the M.E.N. Arena is already expected to be packed on November 14.
Outside of those three popular bouts, UFC officials have added more juice to an already English-heavy card. Both “The Ultimate Fighter: U.S. vs U.K.” winners, James Wilks and Ross Pearson will be in action as well. Pearson (9-3) will start his lightweight climb up against the experienced veteran Aaron Riley (28-11-1). While, James Wilks (6-2), the welterweight winner of the show, will get a big test early in his career when he steps in against "TUF 7" cast member, Matt ‘The Immortal’ Brown (10-7).
Two of the most intriguing bouts scheduled for the event are lightweights Terry Etim (13-2) versus Shannon Gugerty (12-3) and welterweights Paul Taylor (10-4-1) and undefeated John Hathaway (11-0) squaring off. Etim, Taylor, and Hathaway are all a part of the ever-growing talent pool coming out of England. The winners of these bouts will undoubtedly move significantly higher in their respective weight classes.
Following the theme from the Wilks vs Brown match up, the card will also feature two more bouts with “The Ultimate Fighter: U.S. vs U.K.” cast members in action against cast members from “The Ultimate Fighter 7”. Nick Osipczak (4-0) will take on the improving Matthew Riddle (3-0) in a battle of young, undefeated welterweights. The other "TUF vs. TUF" bout will see Andre Winner (9-3-1) one of last season’s finalists, up against Rolando Delgado (6-4-1).
The only other bout officially announced for the November 14 card will be light heavyweights Jared Hamman (10-1) and Alexander Gustafsson (8-0) making their UFC debuts.
"UFC 105" will take place from the M.E.N. Arena in Manchester England on November 14. The international event is expected to be broadcast via tape delay on Spike TV.
