· Josh Barnett’s Steroid Appeal Postponed Again

Heavyweight MMA fighter Josh Barnett's positive steroid test appeal has been postponed for a fourth time. The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) postponed the appeal after they refused to enter the meeting without the presence of Mr. Barnett.

According to Barnett, he was unaware that the meeting required his attendance and he sent his lawyer to be his representative, while he flew to Tokyo, Japan, to compete in a pro-wrestling match with fellow MMA fighter, Bob Sapp.

In July 2009 Barnett tested positive for a banned substance, drostanolone, in a random test by the CSAC. As a result, he was denied a fight license and his main event fight against Fedor Emelianenko at the "Affliction: Trilogy" pay-per-view was canceled, which eventually led to the closing of the fight organization. His original appeal hearing was scheduled for August of that same year.

This is not the first time that Barnett has tested positive for banned substances, his most well-known case was after he defeated Randy Couture at UFC 36 in 2002.

Barnett has not fought in MMA since he tested positive, though he has stated on “The Fight Show with Mauro Ranallo” that he plans to return to MMA sometime this year.
