The comeback trail begins now for middleweights Dan Miller and Damian Maia, if their currently rumored bout against each other comes to fruition.  According to www.mmajunkie.com, a fight between the two middleweight prospects is in the works for "UFC 109" in February, though nothing is official and bout agreements have not been signed.

Maia, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and one of the most explosive submission artists in mixed martial arts, was on a roll since making his UFC debut back in October 2007 at "UFC 77." Running a gauntlet of competition, Maia defeated the likes of Ed Herman, Chael Sonnen, Jason McDonald, and Nate Quarry. All of those fights ended in different variations of the choke.

Damian squared off with Nate Marquardt in his last bout where he was knocked out just seconds into the fight at "UFC 102" in August, the first loss of his career. The setback sent him spiraling back down the middleweight title ladder that he had so rapidly ascended. He currently holds a career mixed martial arts record of 11-1, with 10 of the wins finishing inside the distance.

Miller (11-2) is no stranger to climbing the ladder. Since suffering the first loss of his career in his third professional fight to Mike Massenzio, he would win nine out of ten fights with one no contest in that span. Only three of those contests would go to the score cards. His last bout was a unanimous decision loss to Chael Sonnen at "UFC 98" in May.

Holding career wins over Jake Rosholt, Ryan McGivern, and Matt Horwich, a fight with Maia would be the biggest in his career, with a win, he instantly putting his stamp on the ever-growing UFC middleweight division.
