Fight fans witnessed an exciting slate of mixed martial arts that pitted Americans against Brazilians and separated contenders from pretenders. In the main event one champion faced his toughest test yet as the challenger backed up months of trash talk with an impressive performance. M-1 Global held its "M-1 Selection 2010 – Americas Semi Finals" Saturday night at Bally’s Casino Hotel in Atlantic City. The card showcased an exciting night of combat featuring mixed martial art's future rising stars. The evening presented lightweights to heavyweights all slinging leather and showing impressive ground games in order to battle their way into the M-1 Selection Americas 2010 championship round.

Longtime rivals Jose Vega and Danny Tims will square off in a long overdue rubber match for an opening round Bellator season three bantamweight tournament fight as the promotion returns to the Kansas City Power & Light District for the third time this year for Bellator 26 on Aug. 26.  Both longtime mainstays of the talent-rich Midwest MMA circuit, Vega and Tims each earned their way to the tournament with impressive showings on their home turf during Bellator's second season. In their first meeting it was Tims who had his arm raised in victory. However, Vega didn't agree with the final verdict.

UFC light heavyweight Rodney Wallace is not concerned about Phil Davis' pedigree or hype. When his original opponent Stanislav Nedkov had to withdraw, with just two weeks to go until the fight, Wallace asked specifically for Davis. Nicknamed "Sho-Nuff The Master," Wallace sat down with MMA Spot's Andrew Yount to discuss his opponent, fighter marketability, and why Wallace wants to see Anderson Silva lose his title this weekend.

"UFC 117: Silva vs. Sonnen" is less than two days away and if the fight card is half as entertaining as the press conference was, fight fans are in for quite a show. Bellator announced today that dynamic striker and Macon, Ga. native Bryan Goldsby has officially been added to the Bellator season three bantamweight tournament.  Goldsby sent a direct message to Bellator officials during Bellator 14 when he out-classed MMA trailblazer and heavily favored WEC veteran Jeff Curran in Curran’s hometown of Chicago, Ill.  With the victory Goldsby staked his claim as one of the eight participants in Bellator's upcoming 135 pound tournament.

As with past UFC events, MMA Spot will be bringing our readers coverage of press conferences, weigh-in events, post-fight press conferences, exclusive video, and behind-the-scenes moments leading right up to "UFC 117: Silva vs. Sonnen." The event takes place on August 7 from the Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif., and will be broadcast via pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. Undefeated heavyweight and two-time United States Olympic Games wrestling team member Daniel Cormier will attempt to make it four wins in a row when he faces the hard-hitting Jason Riley in the undercard of a world championship doubleheader at "Strikeforce: Houston" on Saturday, Aug. 21 at Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The addition of the heavyweight bout to the undercard has prompted a new start time, 6:30 p.m. CT, for the event. Doors to the Toyota Center open at 6 p.m.

Yoshiyuki Yoshida, a heavy handed Judo black belt and UFC veteran, has become the newest addition to the Bellator Fighting Championships’ roster, as he fights an unannounced opponent at Bellator 31 on September 30 for the chance to earn a spot in the season four world welterweight tournament. Yoshida is seasoned veteran of the Japanese mixed martial arts scene who quickly adapted to MMA in the US. He wasted little time choking out dangerous striker War Machine in his UFC debut with a vicious anaconda choke that came less than a minute into the first round. Yoshida also holds notable victories over the likes of Katsuya Inoue, Brandon Wolff and former UFC title challenger Dan Hardy.

Originally scheduled to take place at UFC 118 in Boston, Nate Marquardt and Rousimar Palhares will engage in a key middleweight battle to headline Spike TV’s “UFC Fight Night” live from the Frank Erwin Special Events Center on the campus of The University of Texas in Austin on Wednesday, September 15 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.  The bout replaces the previous main event of Alan Belcher vs. Demian Maia, which has been postponed due to an injury to Belcher.
