UFC 99 Mirko “CroCop” Filipović Conference Call Recap
UFC President Dana White and heavyweight Mirko “CroCop” Fil- ipović (24-6-2, 1 NC) participated in a conference call about CroCop's return to the UFC and the org- anization's historic first event in Cologne, Germany. This call gave reporters the opportunity to question CroCop before the event, as he will be unable to attend the UFC 99 “The Comeback” pre-fight conference. Gina Carano Vs. Cris “Cyborg” Santos Set For August
Strikeforce announced the biggest fight in women’s MMA history last Saturday during the SHOWTIME live telecast of “Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields”. The long anticipated bout between undefeated Gina “Conviction” Carano (7-0) and Cris- tiane "Cyborg" Santos (7-1) has been confirmed by the organization and is set to headline their upcoming August 15 fight card. Additionally, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker revealed that the winner of the match would be crowned the promotion’s first-ever female champion.
Sengoku IX: Fujita vs. Ivanov, Gono Signs, & More
It was announced by World Victory Road (WVR) today, that Akihiro Gono (29-14-7) will participate at Sengoku IX on August 2, 2009 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. Also announced to participate are lightweight cont- ender Eiji Mitsuoka (15-6-2), and a heavyweight contest between Ja- panese fan-favorite Kazuyuki Fujita (15-7) and the man who defeated Fedor Emelienenko at the 2008 World Combat Sambo Championships, Blagoi Alexandre Ivanov, making his MMA debut.

Joe Soto Wins Bellator Featherweight Tournament
Bellator Fighting Championship’s event “Bellator X” took place this Friday, June 6, and concluded their ten-week featherweight tournament. Having made their way thr- ough the tournament brackets, undefeated Joe “The Hammer” Soto (7-0) faced Yahir Reyes (14-6) in the finals championship bout. Soto dominated the bout, winning the first round, and finishing Reyes in the second with a rear-naked choke at four minutes eleven seconds in. The win makes Soto Bellator’s first champion, earning him the $100,000 bonus check. Continue reading for the full results.

“WEC 41: Brown Vs. Faber II” Results
The results are in for World Ex- treme Cagefighting’s “WEC 41: Brown vs. Faber II”. Though the second fight between Feather- weight Champion Mike Brown (22-4) and Uriah “The California Kid” Faber (22-3) lasted much longer than their first meeting, the outcome was once again favorable to Brown. Brown outlasted a tough and courageous Faber, winning by unanimous decision at the end of five rounds, 49-46, 49-46 and 48-47. Jason MacDonald Returns To MFC
Jason "The Athlete" MacDonald (21-12) is returning to the organization that gave him his start, Canada's Maximum Fighting Championship. MacDonald was cut from the UFC following his loss to Nate "Rock" Quarry at "UFC 97" in April of this year. He now has his eye on the MFC middleweight title. MacDonald will make his official return at "MFC 22: Payoff" on Sept. 25 at the River Cree Resort and Casino. His official opponent has yet to be determined.

“WEC 41: Brown vs. Faber II” Weigh-In Results
The weigh-in results are in for "WEC 41: Brown vs. Faber II". All but one of the combatants made weight. Frank Gomez (6-1), sched- uled to face TUF alumn Noah “The Red” Thomas (13-4) in a bant- amweight bout, failed to make the requisite 136 lbs on his first attempt. Gomez weighed in at 137.5 lbs and has two additional hours to lose the remaining one and a half pounds. The weigh-ins took place at the Sacramento Mem- orial Auditorium in Sacramento, Calif. Team USA East Beats Finland At M-1 Challenge
Despite having only accepted a fight on 36 hours notice, Team USA East heavyweight Lloyd Marsh- banks was the deciding factor in his team's come-from-behind 3-2 vict- ory over Team Finland on Friday night in Kansas City. Marshbanks was added to the Team USA roster after Mike Ottman did not receive medical clearance from the Kansas Boxing Commission.

Sony Adds MMA Content To Playstation Network
On Tuesday at the E3 conference in Los Angeles, Sony announced that it is adding content from sixteen new partners—movies, sports and entertainment programming—to its PlayStation Network. The new par- tners include Showtime Networks, Starz Media, Comcast's G4 and E!, The Weinstein Company, HDNet, and UFC, among others. Mixed martial arts will be included in the additional sports content; bouts from HDNet Fight's "Inside MMA” and UFC PPV events have been mentioned as just some of the shows available through the video download and delivery service.
