Guy Mezger ~ Retirement, Coaching, And Nutrition

A veteran of both the UFC and Japan's Pride Fighting Championships, Guy Mezger has been present from the very beginning of the sport. Throughout his 17-year career, which included a UFC championship, Mezger continually set the bar high not only for his competitors, but for the overall growth of mixed martial arts. Even now, after his competitive career has ended, Mezger is still impacting the sport’s present and future. MMA Spot's Breanna Armstrong had the recent pleasure of meeting up with Mezger to discuss his "retirement," his thoughts on the evolution of MMA, and the important role supplements and nutrition play in the careers of today's fighters.

Pat Curran Wins Bellator Season 2 Lightweight Tournament

Pat Curran completed his unlikely Cinderella-story run through Bellator Fighting Championships’ season two lightweight tournament on Thursday, scoring a split decision victory over MMA veteran and 2009 "Submission of the Year" titleholder Toby Imada to win the tournament championship.  Curran’s win headlined another great night of fights from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in South Florida, roughly 30 miles south of the high school that Curran represented in the state wrestling finals just four years ago.

WEC Announces Remaining Fights For June 20 Event

World Extreme Cagefighting General Manager Reed Harris confirmed today seven remaining bouts for the organization’s loaded card set to take place at Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on Sunday, June 20. The fights are Will Campuzano vs. Eddie Wineland, Will Kerr vs. Karen Darabedyan, Frank Gomez vs. Wagnney Fabiano, Bendy Casimir vs. Erik Koch, Diego Nunes vs. Raphael Assuncao, Rafael Rebello vs. Chris Cariaso, and Renan Barao vs. Anthony Leone.

Junior Dos Santos And Roy Nelson To Square Off At UFC 117

A long-rumored bout between Junior Dos Santos and Roy Nelson is now official. The two heavyweights will square off at "UFC 117: Silva vs. Sonnen" Aug. 7 at Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif. The UFC has formally announced the fight will be televised on the pay-per-view portion of the card. Dos Santos is undefeated in the UFC, winning all five of his bouts inside the Octagon. Nelson has back-to-back victories since the winning “The Ultimate Fighter: Season 10.”

“M-1 Selection Americas” Second Round Bouts Announced

The second round bouts of M-1 Global’s highly anticipated “M-1 Selection 2010 – Americas” world tournament are set to go down June 26, 2010 at the thrilling Bally’s Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. “It’s clear that these athletes are in a pivotal position in the tournament,” says M-1 Global Director of Operations Evgeni Kogan. “This is a mission to find the next generation of MMA superstars. UFC 114 Live Gate Released

UFCThe culmination of the rivalry between Rashad Evans and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson took place in Las Vegas at UFC 114 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center and the financial details have been released to the public. While pay-per-view numbers are not available at this time, the live gate numbers have been detailed by Nevada State Athletic Commssion Chairmen Keith Kizer.
