Bellator Finalizes Lightweight Tournament Roster With Pat Curran

Bellator Fighting Championships put the final piece in place for its much-anticipated second season lightweight tournament today with the signing of 9-3 up-and-comer Pat Curran.  The 22-year-old Curran is the cousin of UFC, WEC, Strikeforce and Pride veteran Jeff Curran but is quickly stepping out of his cousin’s shadow and carving his own path in the MMA world.

Hardy And GSP Continue Their War Of Words In “UFC Primetime”

The second episode of the three part series "UFC Primetime" features more tough talk between UFC Champion Georges St-Pierre and challenger Dan Hardy as they prepare for their world welterweight title clash at "UFC 111: St-Pierre vs. Hardy." The new episode premieres Wednesday, March 17 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on Spike TV.

Eddie Alvarez vs. Josh Neer Is Set According To Bellator CEO

In a recent interview with MMAjunkie.com Radio, Bellator CEO Mr. Bjorn Rebney said that a “super-fight” between lightweights Eddie Alvarez and Josh Neer is scheduled to take place May 6 at Bellator 17. While Eddie Alvarez (19-2) is the current Bellator lightweight champion, this bout with Josh Neer is a non-title fight and is expected to be fought at a catchweight of 160 pounds.

“UFC 111: St-Pierre vs. Hardy” Full Event Card Made Official

Two world titles will be on the line for the first time in 2010 when the UFC returns to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey for the sold-out "UFC 111: St-Pierre vs. Hardy," Saturday, March 27, live on pay-per-view and presented by Tapout. In featured bouts, UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre, looks to extend his reign against British bomber Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy, and former heavyweight champion Frank Mir looks to become only the second man in UFC history to win the championship three times when he takes on number one contender Shane Carwin for the interim UFC heavyweight title.

Versus Returns to DirecTV

After months of back-and-forth negotiations, which consistently fell through, DirecTV and Comcast have finally reached an agreement bringing Versus, the home of the WEC, back to DirecTV. The station was originally dropped in August of 2009.

Roger Huerta Signs Multi-Fight Deal With Bellator

Former UFC star Roger “El Matador” Huerta has found a new home. Today via a live press conference, streamed on their official website, Bellator announced Huerta as their latest acquisition. Huerta has signed a multi-fight agreement, and is set to join the eight-man lightweight tournament which kicks off on April 8 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla.

Three Bouts Added To WEC 48

With an already stacked line-up announced, WEC 48 has now been further improved with the addition of three additional bouts. Takeya Mizugaki and Rani Yahya are set to do compete in a clash of perennial bantamweight contenders. Also added was a battle between prospects Brad Pickett and Demetrious Johnson, as well as Mackens Semerzier meeting Anthony Morrison

Shine Announces Nick Thompson vs. Eduardo Pamplona

Shine Fights is excited to announce the official signing of a bout between former Bodog Welterweight Champion Nick “The Goat” Thompson (38-12-1) and Brazilian veteran Eduardo Pamplona (12-2). The bout will take place on the main card at “Worlds Collide: Mayorga vs. Thomas,” which will be held at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, North Carolina on May 15, 2010. “Worlds Collide” will be broadcast live on pay-per-view.

Hess Returns And Loeffler Joins Bellator Season Two Middleweight Tournament

Bellator Fighting Championships made two more noteworthy additions to its upcoming season two middleweight tournament today with the signings of (9-1-1) Bellator season one tournament finalist Jared Hess and (18-4) MMA veteran Sean “The Destroyer” Loeffler.  Hess and Loeffler are the fourth and fifth confirmed participants in the eight-man middleweight tournament, joining Bryan “The Beast” Baker, Matt Major and Eric Schambari. Overall, the group boasts a combined winning percentage of .859 (55 wins, 8 losses and 1 draw).

WEC 48 Taking Shape

For the WEC’s first foray into the world of pay-per-view, the promotion has begun putting together a card stacked top-to-bottom with bouts between some of the top fighters in MMA’s lighter weight divisions. “WEC 48: Aldo vs. Faber” is scheduled to take place on April 24 at the Arco Arena; five fights have been signed alongside a few other announced bouts.

As the Ultimate Fighting Championship heads back to the East Coast, the fans have responded once again, and welcomed the UFC back with open arms. Tickets are officially sold out for "UFC 111: St-Pierre vs. Hardy", which is presented by TapouT and is taking place Saturday, March 27 from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
