Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva Likely For September Return

Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva (12-1) is said to be competing in September at "Sengoku 10th Battle." Having only competed once since being suspended for a failed drug test in July 2008 against Justin Eilers under the EliteXC banner, Silva and ATT (American Top Team) have continually denied the validity of the failed test as he will be eligible to return to action this month, after serving his year long suspension.

Erin Toughill Official For "Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg"

Another top notch female fighter Erin Tou- ghill, has been added to the August 15th event "Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg" which will take place at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.

Toughill (10-2-1) is a welcome addition to the card which currently has Josh 'The Punk' Thomson rematching Gilbert 'El Nino' Melendez for the Strikeforce Lightweight title as well as the main event Gina Carano vs Cyborg Santos in a female Championship bout.

Sengoku Ninth Battle Taking Shape

World Victory Road’s Sengoku Ninth Battle has picked up two more key fights, in addition to the final rou- nds of the featherweight tourna- ment, for the August 2 event taking place at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. HDNet is expected to air the event in North America. Lightweights Clay French (16-5) and Eiji Mitsuoka (15-6-2) will square off, as heavy- weights Choi Mu Bae (9-3) and Yoshihiro Nakao (7-2) will also be in action.

Televisa To Air "UFC 100" Live In Mexico

Merely a day after Ultimate Fighting Championship announced a televis- ion deal in China with Inner Mong- olia Television, the premiere mixed martial arts organization continues to expand its international broad- casting horizons. Speaking to Mexi- co’s online news outlet El Universal, UFC President Dana White revealed that “UFC 100” is set to air live on the Mexican multimedia conglomerate Televisa, the largest television network in the Spanish-speaking world. White also stated the promotion’s intention to hold a live event in Mexico within the coming year.

Coming off of his career-defining performance against 3-time UFC® heavyweight title challenger Pedro “The Rock” Rizzo last Saturday night in Biloxi, Dutch knockout artist Gilbert “The Hurricane” Yvel has been added to the Affliction M-1 Global’s star-studded “Trilogy” Pay-Per-View event against another former UFC® heavyweight title challenger, Paul “The Headhunter” Buentello, live August 1 from Honda Center in Anaheim.

DaMarques Johnson Signs Multi-Fight UFC Contract

Recent “The Ultimate Fighter 9: United States vs. United King- dom” welterweight finalist DaMar- ques Johnson (9-7) has been awarded a multi-fight contract with the Ultimate Fighting Cham- pionship, according to a report from The Salt Lake Tribune. The award comes on the heels of the Salt Lake City native’s losing performance at the “TUF 9 Finale” on June 20th where he was soundly defeated by season winner James "Lightning" Wilks (6-2) via submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:54 of the first round.
